Our history

Started in a Ridgewood living room. Still independent.

Bergen Hypertension and Renal Associates is a premier private nephrology practice, established by a solo practitioner in 1971 in his residence in Ridgewood, NJ. Over the last 50 years it has expanded to a six-physician practice with five dialysis facilities and two hospital affiliations in Bergen County.

What has not changed is the way care is delivered: you see the same physicians, in the same office, across the full arc of kidney disease — from a first abnormal lab result through dialysis and transplant.
